Studies being conducted that show that African Americans are targeted and penalized more according to their demographic region are biased and unreliable. Police officers are meant to maintain public safety and societal stability, not to be targeted and killed by African American protestors for doing their jobs. Although this is an issue that will never be resolved or be put to an end, there are ways that this brutality and violence can be made less prevalent. The most common form of reconcile the United States has given people who they have done wrong is by cash reparations. As for the African Americans, they must stop murdering innocent officers who have no relation to any killings or wrongdoings toward those of their race. Last week, the five officers killed had no affiliation to the crimes committed against African Americans yet, they were still targeted and killed. Innocent police officials simply doing their jobs are being killed daily while trying to protect public safety. Happiness is not something that can be pursued. We already have all the capacity for happiness that we need. Happiness comes from within, and from being content with oneself. People can choose to be happy or choose to be miserable. But to be happy or to be sad they need to have particular motivation or self-determination for it. Motivation is defined as a desire or need which directs towards a goal or something that someone wants. Motivation is an inherent response; it comes from inside and cannot be imposed from the outside, and comes from wanting to do something of one’s own free will. A motivating condition may be defined as an emotion, desire, physiological need, or similar impulse that acts as an animating to action and is the set of processes that moves a person towards a goal. Motivation consists of five basic theories. The last theory is called humanistic theory and this is perhaps the most important of all. According to Abraham Maslow, an inventor of humanistic psychology, humans are driven to achieve the maximum point of goal at some point of their lives regardless of any obstacles and hindrances. Maslow developed a pyramid called Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and it argues about five levels of needs beginning with physiological needs and ending with our need for self-actualization. In the movie Pursuit of Happiness, the main character Chris Gardner was played by Will Smith, who had lost everything in some financial crisis. He ended up living in homeless shelter with his kid. It’s the end of your work. It could be either good or bad. A very good example which proves that Chris Gardner is determined person is when Chris did not have any money left to pay for his rent. He didn’t just say I don’t have any money and give up on everything, he rather told his land owner that he will pay him the money and so he did, he was so determined to pay for his rent, so determined that he painted the walls of his apartment to make money so that he could pay off his rent. The another great example of being determined is when Chris trusted the hippie girl with one of his bone scanners and when the hippie ran away with the scanner, he did not just sit back and lose his faith. He runs after that lady and finally gets his scanner back. The third example of being determined is when Chris kept calling although many people such as his manager keep distracting him from his work and turned him down, but he never gives up and ended up getting business from a CEO of a big company which  shows that what determination brings to him. Chris Gardner had hope and motivation not to give up. He was very hopeful and optimistic individual and never gave up throughout his life. He decided what he wanted to do and he actually went for it. Even though his motivations for being in the stock market were not the correct ones, but it still even didn’t drag him to despair. An admirable illustration that proves Chris Gardner really is a hopeful and Optimistic person is when Chris’s wife had left him and he did not break down. Van Gogh Hi, my name is Vincent Van Gogh. I was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, North Brabant, Netherlands. I am the eldest son of a Protestant Clergyman. In 1869, at age 16, I began to work for Groupil and Company, who were Art Dealers in The Hague, where my uncle was a partner. I briefly turned to teaching school in England after Groupil and Company dismissed me in 1876. I then began to study for entrance to a theological seminary to follow in the footsteps of my father. After failing to qualify, I then volunteered for service among the coal miners of the Borinage in southern Belgium. In 1881 I moved to The Hague to work with the Dutch landscape painter Anton Mauve. And the next summer I began to experiment with oil paints. My urge to be alone with nature took me to Dutch villages, and my subjects still life, landscape, and figure all related to the peasants' daily hardships and surroundings. In 1885 I produced my first masterpiece, 'The Potato Eaters'. In my life I have not accomplished much. I failed and lost interest in many of jobs that I have had. I did become a lay preacher in 1876. As for my paintings, I only sold one of them that I can remember. But I'm sure they will be worth millions in the future. My life as I have seen I was pretty much a waste of oxygen. I didn't accomplish anything in my eyes and anyone else's eyes that I know of. Sure, I made over a thousand paintings, but, I only sold one, I never married or had kids, and I couldn't stick to one profession. Now on July 27, 1890 I think I am going to go and commit suicide. I can't stand these mental hospitals anymore, even though they were my greatest inspiration. Kennedys New Frontier Essays Kennedys New Frontier Essay Kennedys New Frontier Essay John F. Kennedy, our 35th President who won in the 1960 election, was also the youngest man ever to become President. In debates against his Republican opponent Richard Nixon, he was very refined, energetic and able. His platform talked of aggressively moving forward into the new decade, for â€Å"the New Frontier is here whether we seek it or not. † As our new leader he asked: â€Å"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. † The â€Å"New Frontier† really became and symbolized his domestic and foreign programs. One major priority was to end a recession and restore a sense of growth along with boosting the economy. Other elements of the â€Å"New Frontier† were to provide national defense, boost our space program and provide international aid. Kennedy also controlled monopoly pricing which large corporations disliked but it helped consumers to not be taken advantage of. He was also a major advocate of civil rights and although no legislation was passed during his presidency, it surely paved the way for future reform. Another boost was raising the minimum wage. The international accomplishments were major as well. The Peace Corps sent teachers to poor nations to improve education levels which in turn could help their economies. Secondly, was the Alliance for Progress, which provided aid to Latin America. The space program was strongly endorsed by Kennedy as well, as he challenged the U. S. to put a man on the moon by 1970. In the big picture, Kennedy’s New Frontier was successful for the economy and paving the way for many elements of political and social reform.
